I think that the two biggest steroids are computing power and the use of handheld, wireless devices. Like we have talked about before, we have access to unlimited amounts of information, but without the power to process it all, it would be useless. Therefore, computing power is very important. The other is wireless devices. These give us the power to access the internet, and therefore the entire world, from anywhere, in any situation. Both of these steroids greatly contribute to the flattening of the world.
the six steroids are what make all the other flattener's go at an even quicker rate. The wireless aspect of things where in asian countries there is wireless internet access everywhere and therefore if you simply have an wifi enable computer or device you can access the internet anywhere and people able to find information at the instant it is needed. New technology in cell phones and pda's is also one people now how the internet in there pocket which is similar to having an entire library in your pocket and many other things as well.
In Japan they have fast wireless internet anywhere, from a train to their house, they get FREE wireless internet connection. Someone told me that in Japan they get 64 mb/sec downloads, and they fastest available in our area is 10...that is pitiful. The first "steroid" is computing, using computing to interact with people, store stuff, and send and receive things. The second steroid is file sharing. Using peer-to-peer networks to share songs, videos, and other files. The third steroid is the ability to make phone calls over the internet. The forth steroid is being able to host a conference with people all over the world using video conferencing. The fifth steroid is involves computer graphics and computer games. The sixth and most important steroid is the advances in mobile devises. Now you can access your email and anything on the internet from nearly anywhere using your cell phone, pda, or even you mp3 player (iphone)
All the steroids he mentioned are ment to work together as 1 flattener without each of these steroids, mainly advances in mobile devices, we would not be where we are today in terms of interconectivity and globalization. Wireless internet connection made a huge impact on when and where people can use their computers on the web this allowed for an even easier management system. Interconnection of computers over peer to peer allowed users to trade files with ease and with high speed capability. VOIP rocked the world with the ability to talk over an internet connection. These steroids work together and seperatley and created a huge jump in worldwide ability over landline.
One of the big steroids is wireless devices. There is wireless internet access all over these Asian countries .
